Dick DeVos is an established businessman who has spent most of his career life serving in different executive positions. He has worked for Amway, NBA Orlando Magic, and at the Windquest Groups where he is the sitting President.
Career at Amway
Dick was the President of Amway from 1993 to 2002 and was responsible for all the company’s operations in fifty countries and six continents. In his last fiscal year at the firm, the company recorded a mind-blowing 4.5 billion dollars worth of sales. Before he became the President, he was the Vice President of the enterprise serving eighteen countries outside North America.
It was under DeVos leadership that Amway opened new markets and saw its foreign sales trip above the domestic sales for the first time since the launch of the company. In 1991, Amway acquired the Orlando Magic, and DeVos became its President and CEO for the next three years.
Other Roles and Community Services
On top of his business prowess, DeVos has served as a leader in various community outreaches. He established an Education Freedom Fund which awards over four thousand scholarships to needy students in Michigan. He also started the West Aviation Academy whose aim is to offer rigorous education program through aviation. DeVos has served on the State Board of Education and led as the chair or co-chair of various Grand Rapids area downtown regional health care improvements. Such initiatives include:

In 2006 DeVos ran for the Michigan State Governorship on a Republican ticket. He has written a New York, best-selling book which was published in 1997 in seven languages. The book is titled Rediscovering American Values. He is a graduate of Northwood University, a qualified helicopter and jet aircraft pilot, and a two-time National Champion sailor.
Family and Marriage Life
DeVos was born in 1955 and has been married for past 35 years to Betsy Prince. They have seven kids and one grandchild. He lives together with his wife and children in Grand Rapids and owns three houses in Windsor, Florida. They have several houses and a vacation home where they spend several weeks a year just relaxing. He bought some of the properties from his father and is passionate about his family business.
